Request for Support

Our mission is to support our Community of Interest (COI) by providing Leadership, Subject Matter Expertise, and Technological Capability for all aspects of M&S activities.  We continue to improve our capabilities through collaboration with institutions, universities and other organizations that are leaders in their fields of expertise.  We take full advantage of our location in Rome, Italy and the numerous universities and research facilities in the area.

NATO Requests for Support (RfS) to NATO-accredited COEs are submitted via the online RfS Tool, managed by HQ SACT, and hosted on the unclassified Transformation Network (TRANSNET) portal.  The RfS Tool is the primary tool used for the coordination of unclassified NATO requests.  Classified NATO requests are submitted via appropriate classified channels.

The requests should be entered before June for work to be carried out in the subsequent year (based on the COE Program of Work cycle). Out-of-cycle requests may be carried out if sufficient capacity/resources exist.

The following steps are required in order to request support from the NATO M&S COE:

  1. The requestor submits the Requests for Support (RfS) via the TRANSNET website (note: prior discussions with the M&S COE can be helpful in determining specific resource requirements and for crafting the request – Click on);
  2. The M&S COE evaluates the request to determine appropriate expertise and available resources;
  3. COE provides feedback via the RfS Tool response;
  4. HQ SACT provides validation and prioritization (if required) of the RfS and coordinates with the potentially affected stakeholders;
  5. The COE Steering Committee (SC) either accepts or rejects the RfS for the COE POW;
  6. If the RfS is accepted, the COE POW is updated;
  7. The COE executes the request and then formally closes the loop with the requestor;
  8. Once the request is complete, the requestor informs the HQ SACT RfS Manager; the RfS Manager will update the RfS tool accordingly.
